AUSSIES AT IAME INTERNATIONAL FINAL - Report

Kip Foster looked set to win the X30 Masters division at the recent IAME International Final in France on the weekend. After qualifying fastest, the KartForce proprietor enjoyed a couple of heat wins and placed second in the pre-final.

Unfortunately, a technical problem arose on the rollup for the final which sapped his engine of power. Despite this, he was second into the first corner (off grid 2), then took the lead for a number of laps before falling out of contention.

"He drove defensive for as long as he could (and) had to choke on and off whole lap to keep it running" Kerry Foster posted. Kip retired with four of the 22 laps still to go.

Despite a lack of experience with front brakes or Leopard karts, both James Allen (Western Australia) and Joshua Crossingham (Queensland) managed to make it to the B Final of X30 Seniors against a very strong field of 90.

Under the guidance of Team Sodi, the pair came to grips with some pretty tough conditions. In their B Final, Crossingham started out of sixth and Allen from fifteenth and they managed a second and a fourth respectively.

"James picked up Stein's ride by virtue of being in Austria testing at the Red Bull Ring for Formula BMW" Julie Allen informed KartSportNews. "He will compete in the Formula BMW challenge series in 2013 after gaining a mini scholarship for his efforts and starts training in Finland in March."

Kip's son Scott qualified 80th in X30 Senior. Like Crossingham and Allen, he moved up the rankings during the heats. Scott managed to finish 6th in the X30 Master + Senior Final B.
