Leopard RL Power Curve Diagram

Question: "How can I prolong the life of my Leopard RL engine?"
Answer:
  Above is the genuine IAME factory Dyno Power curve and Torque Curve for the RL engine. As you can see, its maximum power and torque is made between 10,000 and 12,000 RPM.  There is no need to rev the engine beyone mid-15,000 RPM. By not revving the engine over 15,000 RPM the engine life will be prolonged between rebuilds.  The starter motor brushes will last much longer as the engine will not have the high pitched harmonics vibration which breaks the starter motor brushes. By not revving the engine this will also be kinder to the main bearings, bigend cage and conrod.  By revving the engine over 15,000 RPM you are risking a main bearing failure. The load on the drive-side crankshaft would be much less because it has the weight of the clutch hub mounted on the side of the crankshaft which may put excess load on the crankshaft if you are revving at high RPM's.

NEW CLASS: JUNIOR PERFORMANCE
The Parilla Leopard RL and Parilla X30 are both approved for used in this class and the MG AZ RED are the approved dry weather tyres.
With the RL using a restrictor plate AKA20L and the X30 using the AKAX30 restrictor plate.
Refer to Chapter 44 for Technical Specs and 32.06 for engine exhaust restriction details in the current AKA manual.

NOTE: Just remove the restrictor to race the engine in Senior Class or vice versa - no need to buy another engine.

  • THE IAME PARILLA LEOPARD ENGINE IS LIKE "NO OTHER" IN THE KARTING WORLD...

    It has been developed as a real race engine with the reliability and durability of a recreational engine. This gives karters the best of both worlds - True race engine performance and tuneability along with long periods between major rebuilds, allowing maximum enjoyment from karting.   Items such as the solid billet conrod, high quality metals and precision castings and machining ensures optimum performance and reliability.

    Being watercooled not only extends the engine's life, but also improves performance and reduces noise.

    The integrated generator charges the battery while the engine is in use, meaning an end to the tiresome task of constantly recharging batteries, while KEY starting brings to an end the dangerous task of push-starting karts.

    The centrifugal clutch not only allows the kart to be driven away from a standstill, but also allows drivers to rejoin the track or continue after a spin or other off-track experience.

    The LEOPARD CLASS took off across Australia since 2000 and now drivers are racing in every state at every level from CLUB RACING through to STATE TITLES and AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS.

    Being able to race straight 'out-of-the-box' means that there is no 'blueprinting' and fancy engine building or tuning required.   You really do simply bolt the engine onto a kart and go racing.   It also means that the class has a level playing field for all competitors.
